The SEL-351R Recloser Control, derived from SEL's premiere distribution relay, the SEL-351 Protection System, combines traditional recloser control functions with technologically advanced SEL relaying features, such as phase and ground directional elements, multilevel under- and overfrequency trip and control, and high-accuracy metering. Compatibility with standard control cable and mounting dimensions makes retrofitting fast and convenient, while the simple settings and large operator controls make the SEL-351R very user-friendly.
Plug-In Recloser Compatibility—Choose the SEL-351R for traditional 14-pin recloser applications. The control is a plug-compatible replacement for Eaton (Cooper) Form 3, 3A, 4, 4A, 4C, 4D, FXA, FXB, 5, and 6 recloser controls. The SEL-351R is compatible with popular reclosers from ABB (Joslyn), Eaton (Cooper), G&W, and Hawker Siddeley (Whipp & Bourne). Fault Location—Efficiently dispatch line inspection and repair personnel with the built-in fault locator and fault type identification. Identify recurring feeder trouble points to improve reliability.
Coordination—Selectively coordinate with upstream relays and recloser controls using a Mirrored Bits communications link for secure, high-speed fault clearing on distribution circuits. Relay- and Recloser-Compatible Time-Overcurrent Protection
The included U.S. (IEEE) and IEC relay curves, user-programmable curves, and all traditional recloser curves maximize recloser control flexibility and coordination. Constant time adder, vertical multiplier, and minimum response time functions improve flexibility.
Large Display and Operator Controls
Large front-panel display and programmable operator control interface pushbuttons make it easy to control your reclosers. Control interface pushbuttons include a "Lock" function to prevent inadvertent operation. Pushbuttons are preprogrammed and labeled with popular recloser control switch functions but can be reprogrammed and relabeled to meet your unique application requirements.
The lightweight painted aluminum cabinet exhibits the same outstanding resistance to corrosion as a stainless steel cabinet and is easy to install.
Extra Cabinet Space
The cabinet accommodates 16 Ah batteries with additional space inside the recloser control enclosure to add communications equipment, such as a cellular modem and point-to-point radio, to integrate the recloser control into your distribution automation system.
Advanced 24 Vdc Battery-Charging and -Monitoring System
The SEL-351R includes a 120 Vac-powered battery charging system that monitors and tests the 24 Vdc battery and comes with an automatic sleep and local wake-up function. A 12 Vdc battery is available for powering modems and radio communications equipment (6 W continuous, 13 W for 1 second).
Per-Phase Operations Counter
Monitor breaker or recloser contact wear for each individual phase for efficient maintenance planning and troubleshooting.
