Communications Processor

Suitable for use in utility substations or industrial control and automation systems, the SEL-2032 Communications Processor can replace remote terminal units and other devices with reliability and simplicity. With no extra wiring, one device provides a Sequential Events Recorder (SER), event report retrieval, and clear communication between other intelligent electronic devices (IEDs). The SEL-2032 Communications Processor’s automatic database collects, stores, and forwards meter and load profile data, event reports, and targets.

Receive SER messages from SEL devices, and update local SER database. Monitor optional contact inputs, time-tag transitions, and save SER records. Send SER records to the host using DNP3 LAN/WAN and SEL Fast SER messages.

Two Plug-In Protocol-Processor Card Slots Support SEL-2700 Series Cards
Provide communication on hardware-specific local-area networks. The SEL-2711 Modbus Plus Protocol Card connects with Modbus Plus networks. The SEL-2701 Ethernet Processor interfaces with fiber and copper Ethernet networks and includes support for Telnet, FTP, DNP3 LAN/WAN, IEC 61850/UCA2, and the OSI, TCP, and UDP stacks.

Automatic Database
Collect, store, and forward meter reports, targets, digital input status, event reports, demand meter reports, and more. Use the optional flash memory for nonvolatile storage.

Configuration
Use the Set File Generator tool to ease the settings development of SEL communications processors. Preconfigured device templates quickly and easily establish communications between a communications processor and common substation IEDs. The Set File Generator creates settings files that can be sent to the communications processor using SEL-5020 Settings Assistant Software. It aids the communications processor experts, power users, or even novices by decreasing the time required to compose settings.

Use the SEL-5020 Settings Assistant Software to prepare settings and communicate with the communications processor.
