Enhance IEC 61850 Sampled Values-Based Applications With PRP

SEL-400 series relays with the five-port Ethernet card

Improve availability in IEC 61850-based digital secondary systems by adding the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) to process bus or station bus applications using SEL-400 series relays with the five-port Ethernet card. Use network monitoring features in SEL-400 series relays to further improve system availability by actively monitoring each redundant path to detect communications network failures.

SEL-400 series relays using the five-port Ethernet card feature two process bus ports, two station bus ports, and one engineering access port. This card provides dedicated Layer 2 communications for process bus networks and dedicated Layer 3 communications for station bus networks and engineering access, allowing selective access to these networks.

Each Ethernet port supports small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers, and you can choose between single- and multimode communications options for increased flexibility. All ports support 100 Mbps SFP transceivers, and process bus ports also support 1 Gbps SFP transceivers.

Compatible Relays

The five-port Ethernet card can be ordered in the following SEL-400 series relays, or it can be installed as a field upgrade. Contact your local sales representative to learn more.
