SELU Course Information

mySELU Training Account

Before registering for your first SEL University course, you must create a mySEL account. That will automatically create a mySELU training plan. If you do not register yourself, you will need to contact SELU to have the material added to your mySELU Training account.

Your mySELU training plan is a record of SELU training you have purchased. When you purchase an SELU training course, it will be added to your mySELU Training webpage. From this single location, you can:

  • View and sort training you have completed and courses in which you are enrolled
  • Access SELU online training in which you are enrolled
  • Access course materials starting two weeks prior to the course date (for SEL University classroom-based courses)
  • View SELU online training completion status
  • View your SELU transcript

Continuing Education Units

SELU is recognized as an Accredited Provider (AP) by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). In obtaining this accreditation, SELU demonstrates that it complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard, which is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice.

Unless otherwise specified, classes are conducted from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

What Is Provided?

When you attend an SEL University classroom-based course, you will receive the following:

  • Course manual and a student CD that includes an electronic copy of the course manual and any supporting materials*
  • Certificate of completion and the ability to request any applicable CEUs

*Important Note: Students are responsible for taking home the materials they receive in class. In some cases, these materials can be sizable. If you have concerns about transporting the manual and would like an estimate of the manual size, please contact SEL University. Please note that students receive an electronic copy of the materials on their student CDs. SELU staff will be happy to recycle any materials students do not want to take with them.

What Should I Bring?

Unless otherwise specified on the course-specific page, please bring the following item(s) to class: A scientific calculator that is capable of performing computations involving rectangular and polar coordinates. All classroom-based courses include a student CD with an electronic copy of the course materials, so if you wish to access this electronic copy of the materials during class, you will need a laptop with a working CD-ROM drive, even if it is not listed below or on the course-specific page. As noted earlier, students have access to an electronic copy of the course materials starting two weeks prior to the class via their mySELU account.

For APP, PWRS, TST, and SYS courses:

  • Any software required by the course, installed and updated (Please see the course-specific page for any details on software or additional laptop requirements.)

*Note: Please ensure that your laptop does not have any installation blocks before you come to class. In some cases, you may need to update or install software to participate in class. If your laptop has only USB ports, please install the SEL USB driver.

eLearning Course Information

Web-Based Training (WBT)

WBT courses provide live, instructor-led training delivered over the web. This allows the technician or engineer to attend instructor-led training without leaving the office.

Course Times
Unless otherwise stated, classes are typically conducted from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (PST) on Tuesday and Thursday of the scheduled week.

Course Access
WBTs will be accessible from within your mySELU training page. The link to access the course is available only when the classroom is actively being used. Typically the room will be opened 30 minutes prior to the start of class.

Course Homework
Homework will be assigned on Tuesday to be submitted to the instructor before class on Thursday. Please allow time outside of the scheduled class meetings to complete the assignments.

Call-In Information
Audio is relayed via teleconference. You will be supplied the required number to call before the class.

System Requirements
Perform this system test to check that your computer and Internet speed is compatible with our conferencing software. A test session will be held on the date and time specified in your confirmation letter.
Click here for a detailed list of current system requirements.

You must complete both days of the course and submit a course evaluation and CEU request form to receive CEUs.

Computer-Based Training (CBT)

CBT courses are designed to be self-paced and enable both technicians and engineers to learn about industry topics from anywhere that has an Internet connection.

Course Access
Courses are available 24/7 online through your mySELU training account.* Once you have completed a course, you can review the material as often as needed for the duration of your license term.

Single-user licenses allow one user to access the CBT using a web connection for one year.

*Please note: SELU no longer supports CBTs on compact discs (CD). If you have any questions, contact us.

System Requirements
A personal computer with high-speed Internet access is required to enroll. Click here for a detailed list of current system requirements to access our course materials. Please note that our CBTs do not currently support HTML5 and will not play on devices without a current version of Adobe® Flash® player. Click here to test your version.
