This product has been renamed. It is identical to the SEL-PILC Underground Multiconductor Cable Fault Indicator.
Apply the LINAM MC on paper-insulated lead cable (PILC) and on triplexed nonlead cables in underground distribution systems. The MC is compatible with single-phase triplexed and three-phase sector (or round) multiconductor cable from 2.2 to 4.64 inches in diameter.
The split-cuff design of the MC makes it quick and easy to install without disconnecting the cable. Its rugged construction is designed for submersion in up to 15 feet of water. The MC is compatible with the RadioRANGER Underground Wireless Fault Indication System. Used together, they simplify fault finding to quickly locate faults in urban systems.
Faster, More Reliable Fault Locating—Reduce the time spent on fault locating and reduce reliance on cable thumping. A variety of display options are available to suit your installation, and the auxiliary output contact can serve as a simple SCADA interface.
No Need to Open Vaults—Use the MC with the SEL RadioRANGER Underground Wireless Fault Indication System to remove the need to open, enter, pump, or drain vaults and manholes. Troubleshooters can use the SEL-8310 RadioRANGER Remote Fault Reader to find the faulted cable section from street level, in many cases without leaving the truck.
Easy Installation—With a unique split-cuff design and advanced fault detection technology, the MC removes the need to disconnect the cable or separate individual phases in triplexed or bundled cables.
Rugged Design—Polycarbonate housing, stainless steel hardware, and fully encapsulated circuitry withstand harsh underground conditions. The MC is submersible to 15 feet in brackish water and withstands operating temperatures from –40° to 85°C (–40° to 185°F).
Versatile—Apply the MC on three-phase sector PILC, single-phase triplexed PILC, and single-phase triplexed nonlead cable, such as XLPE, with a nonmagnetic concentric neutral or a foil tape shield.
The Firmware IDs for older versions of the firmware can typically be found in Appendix A of the instruction manual.
