Avoid exposing personnel to hazardous conditions by enabling them to control and monitor equipment from their vehicles or other safe locations.
The SEL-2925 BLUETOOTH Serial Adapter transmits data up to 115,200 bits per second to distances of 100 meters (300 feet) in typical applications with a clear line-of-sight communications path. For even greater distances, use directional gain antennas.
Device Access Via Secure Wireless Links—Permanently install an SEL-2925 on the serial port of a recloser control, protective relay, or other device. Communicate securely from over 100 meters (328 feet) away to avoid entering hazardous areas or opening doors that allow precipitation or contaminants to enter equipment enclosures.
Improved Safety—Protect personnel by allowing them to interact with devices in hazardous locations from the safety of their vehicle or a safe location. For example, install the SEL-2925 in arc-flash zones (like switchgear lineups or electrical rooms), underground vaults, manufacturing floors, or sites exposed to vehicular traffic.
Equipment Protection—Keep enclosure and control house doors closed and secure to reduce exposure to precipitation and contaminants.
Secure Communication Via Mobile Devices—Communicate with an SEL-2925 plugged into a remote device with standard BLUETOOTH software and hardware in your laptop computer. To communicate from handheld mobile devices, download the SEL RxTx App to your Android tablet or Android or BlackBerry smartphone.
Intruder Lockout—Locate equipment where vandals cannot reach it. Keep gates and control house doors locked. Depend on security that is always enabled with an 8- to 16-character key. Communicate securely using BLUETOOTH v2.1 + EDR security, including Secure Simple Pairing (SSP) and Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman (ECDH) key exchange.
Wireless Links Instead of Cables—Set control (DIP) switches to pair two SEL-2925 Adapters in cable-replacement mode. The wireless link can serve as a replacement for an EIA-232 cable without any wiring, trenching, or right-of-way issues. This wireless link is suitable for DNP3 SCADA and engineering access applications, but the latency is not suitable for Mirrored Bits or Modbus communications.
Options and Accessories—Order with either an indoor or outdoor antenna to mount on a cabinet. A USB Standard-A to Micro-B cable is included to power the adapter from a computer USB port. Most SEL devices can provide power through the rear serial port. Alternatively, order a 915900290 worldwide ac power supply with a USB Standard-A jack or an SEL-C580 Cable with a USB Micro-B connector and plain wires to connect to a 5 Vdc source.
