SEL-2126

Fiber-Optic Transfer Switch

Switch several protection protocols simultaneously (Mirrored Bits communications, line current-differential protection, etc.) communicating through fiber-optic links. The SEL-2126 is a high-speed communications device that senses contact inputs to route data streams between remote and local relays, or between the remote and one or two transfer relays.

Communication During Breaker Bypass or Maintenance—Reroute IEEE C37.94 communications for bypass breaker protection during circuit breaker or station bypass operations. The SEL-2126 Fiber-Optic Transfer Switch maintains unit line protection even during breaker or relay maintenance by transferring communication to one or two bus-tie relays for main-bus/transfer-bus schemes, station-bypass operations, three-terminal line applications, primary and backup communications links, and local or remote relay testing.

Rerouting Flexibility—Transfer multiple communications protocols carried on the IEEE C37.94 standard fiber-optic interface. The SEL-2126 provides the only total fiber-optic rerouting solution in the industry.

Details

High-Speed Communications
The SEL-2126 has a data delay of less than 10 µs. This is 400 to 1,000 times faster than traditional digital devices.

Flexible Relay Communications
Reroute communications from up to six pairs of line protection relays to either or both of two transfer relays.

Fiber-Optic IEEE C37.94 Interface Compliance
Replace expensive interface converters with the SEL-2894 or the SEL-3094 to reliably and economically link multiplexers to any devices, by using the fiber-optic standard interface IEEE C37.94 for all relay-to-relay communications.

Multiple Communications Protocols, One Transfer Switch
Simply reroute any communications protocol carried on the IEEE C37.94 fiber-optic interface standard without moving fiber connectors and without changing communications equipment programming.
