synchroWAVe Event 1.6 is Released

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is excited to share the new features and capabilities added to SEL-5601-2 synchroWAVe Event Software in the recently released version 1.6.

Event Report Analysis

Thousands of protection engineers around the world rely on synchroWAVe Event to analyze COMTRADE and SEL relay event reports. Event reports are typically comprised of oscillography and digital signals that help engineers determine what happened on the power system during a fault and why the protective relay(s) operated.

What’s New in synchroWAVe Event 1.6?

Parsed Relay Settings—Relay settings can now be used in custom calculations by simply typing the name of the setting into an equation, making it even easier to create calculations. Settings names are denoted in synchroWAVe Event by “.Set” (for example, CTR.Set).

New Features Added to synchroWAVe Event Basic—The Harmonics chart and Spectral Analysis chart have been added to the free synchroWAVe Event Basic. View a comparison of synchroWAVe Event Advanced and synchroWAVe Event Basic capabilities.

Improved File Support and Load Time—Support for COMTRADE files that have variations from the COMTRADE standard is improved. The load time for large event reports has also been reduced.

Simplified License Activation and Management—synchroWAVe Event now supports license activation directly through the synchroWAVe Event Software.

Step 1: Download and install synchroWAVe Event 1.6.

Step 2: Click Activate in the lower right corner of the display, and select Internet Activate.

Step 3: Enter the Activation ID, and click OK. synchroWAVe Event will then automatically activate and restart. The Activation ID is sent via email shortly after a license purchase is processed.

Getting Started With Custom Calculations

In case you missed it, Ariana Hargrave, SEL senior protection application engineer, hosted a “Getting Started With Custom Calculations in synchroWAVe Event” webinar on May 20, 2020. During the webinar recording (linked below), you will:
