Microgrids are electrical grids capable of islanded operation separate from a utility grid. These grids commonly include a high percentage of renewable energy power supplies, such as photovoltaic (PV) and wind generation. Microgrids, therefore, commonly have problems related to their low system inertia and the intrinsic limitations of power electronic sources.
