In this recorded webinar, you will learn about SEL’s digital secondary system (DSS) process bus solutions that are based on the IEC 61850 standard. Recent communications enhancements to SEL devices provide the ability to use the Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) on process bus networks. Using a new Ethernet card, users have access to more diagnostic information, dedicated communications ports for various roles, and other features that make the SEL-400 series platform even more valuable in systems using IEC 61850-9-2 Sampled Values (SV) data streams.
In addition, this webinar will discuss uses of SEL-400 series relays to simplify secondary system wiring while providing complete power system protection. Rugged SEL devices can be installed in the substation yard to serve as merging units, digitizing signals from primary equipment and sending an SV data stream to SV-compliant relays in the control house using software-defined networking (SDN) equipment. This solution provides additional control over Ethernet networking and local backup protection.
