Fault location, isolation, and service restoration (FLISR) is an automated solution that locates and isolates permanent faults and restores power to healthy (unfaulted) portions of affected distribution lines or feeders. When applied, it minimizes downtime for customers, limits potential equipment damage, and improves reliability indices.
FLISR solutions are powerful, can be scaled to different system sizes, and don't have to be complicated. During this webinar, you will learn how FLISR is applied using SEL recloser controls, communications, automation controllers, and software in the following progressive tiers:
Local, which relies on voltage sensors and timers to be able to perform the scheme without reclosers communicating with each other.
Peer-to-peer, in which reclosers communicate with each other in a loop scheme with two or three feeders working end to end with an open tie point recloser.
Regional, which uses an automation controller and SEL Blueframe applications, like SEL Data Management and Automation (DMA), to simplify reclosing for scalable systems with more than three feeders.
