SEL Protection, Control, and Metering Solutions for Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Interconnections

Overview

Learn about the array of solutions available at SEL to improve protection, control, and metering for distributed energy resource (DER) interconnection sites.

In this presentation, we will:

  • Explain the use of electronic reclosers at the point of common coupling (PCC) and how to use advanced features in the SEL-651R Advanced Recloser Control for protection, rapid island detection, synchronizing, and enter-service supervision.
  • Discuss the role of the SEL-735 in both revenue and power quality metering for the DER site, including compliance detection for IEEE 519 and 1547 harmonic distortion requirements.
  • Introduce the new GridConnect Library for the Real-Time Automation Controller product family, and show how it can be applied to maximize the availability of DER output while maintaining operating points required by the area electric power system operator.
