Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is under contract to purchase the commercial property at 400 SE Fairmount Drive in Pullman, Washington, formerly occupied by Pullman Building Supply. The purchase supports ongoing investments to meet growing global demand for SEL products. Upon completion of the sale, the 135,810-square-foot commercial facility and surrounding 11.5-acre property will undergo renovations led by the SEL Property team to transform the former hardware store, warehouse and lumberyard into a modern manufacturing facility designed to support the production of SEL products.SEL expects manufacturing operations to begin in early 2027. Approximately 300 employees will work at the facility, which will include current employees and newly hired team members. The Pullman project is one of several manufacturing expansion efforts underway at SEL, including previously announced investments in Moscow, Idaho, and Charlotte, North Carolina.“Demand for SEL products continues to grow around the world as utilities and industries invest in more reliable, resilient and secure electric power systems,” said President Dave Whitehead. “Acquiring and repurposing this facility allows us to add manufacturing capacity quickly while continuing to invest in our communities and create opportunities for current and future employee owners.”The property has been vacant since Pullman Building Supply closed its Pullman location in November 2024.To support continued growth, SEL is actively hiring assemblers and other manufacturing employees across its operations.
