SEL Continues to Expand Manufacturing Capacity With New Post Falls, Idaho Facility
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) continues to expand its manufacturing operations in Idaho with the purchase of a large industrial building in Post Falls, an investment that will increase manufacturing capacity to meet growing global demand for products that protect, monitor and control critical infrastructure.Teams at the site will manufacture electronic devices like those produced at the SEL facilities in Pullman, Washington, and Lewiston, Idaho. The new manufacturing facility is expected to be fully operational in 2027.“In addition to our recent purchase of the 103,000-square-foot facility in Nampa, our manufacturing investment in the Post Falls location will allow us to bring two facilities online to increase our ability to meet the significant demand for our electronic devices,” said President Dave Whitehead.This is the fifth major manufacturing expansion initiative SEL has announced in the past two years. Previous projects include new electronic device manufacturing facilities in Moscow and Nampa, Idaho; an expansion of panel manufacturing operations in Charlotte, North Carolina; and the acquisition of the former Pullman Building Supply property in Pullman, Washington.“Utilities and industries across the globe are upgrading critical electrical infrastructure to improve reliability, security and performance,” said SEL Founder and Chairman of the Board Ed Schweitzer. “Idaho has been a tremendous partner for SEL for many years, and we're pleased to continue growing our presence and capacity in a state that shares our commitment to innovation, manufacturing and long-term investment.”The new facility is expected to initially create approximately 250 manufacturing careers.
