SEL Achieves IEC 62443-2-4 Certification, Strengthening Cybersecurity Assurance for Critical-Infrastructure Customers
PULLMAN, Washington—Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) has earned IEC 62443-2-4 certification at Maturity Level 2 from exida, a globally recognized certification body for industrial control system security. For utilities, industrial organizations and other critical-infrastructure operators, the exida certification validates that SEL applies documented and managed cybersecurity practices when providing services for industrial automation and control systems (IACSs). IEC 62443-2-4 is an international standard that establishes cybersecurity requirements for service providers involved in the integration and maintenance of industrial automation solutions. Beyond the security features of individual products, IACS cybersecurity depends on how solutions are designed, integrated, configured, commissioned, maintained and supported throughout their life cycle.“Cybersecurity is essential to the reliability and resilience of critical infrastructure,” said Nicholas Seeley, senior vice president of Engineering Services. “Pursuing IEC 62443-2-4 certification reinforces our commitment to delivering trusted, secure solutions that our customers can depend on.” This certification reflects a longstanding history of security by design at SEL, beginning when SEL founder Dr. Edmund O.
