SEL releases new book on generator protection and control

SEL releases new book on generator protection and control

SEL has published a new book comprised of technical papers on synchronous generator protection, control, and monitoring. The book, Synchronous Generator Protection and Control—A Collection of Technical Papers Representing Modern Solutions, discusses strategies for dealing with scenarios that threaten the secure, reliable operation of power-generating stations.

Split into two sections—Protection (Section A) and Control and Monitoring (Section B)—the papers are authored by protection and control experts from SEL, electric utilities, and industrial and consulting companies. Section A papers cover topics ranging from stator turn-to-turn protection and stator ground fault protection to motoring protection, loss-of-field protection, and CT selection. Section B covers control functions, such as automatic synchronization that ensures a generator is back online immediately after a unit outage. Other papers discuss special requirements for synchronous generators operating within a microgrid and other related topics.

For a sneak peek at Synchronous Generator Protection and Control—A Collection of Technical Papers Representing Modern Solutions, or to order a copy, visit the SEL Bookstore .
