SEL to Open Health Clinic in Lewiston for Employees, Their Families
Visiting the doctor is about to get easier and more affordable for Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories’ LC Valley employees. The company announced today that it will open an on-site health clinic in their Lewiston facility this February.
“Our Pullman clinic has been an overwhelming success, and we’ve received so much positive feedback from our employees, including many from Lewiston who’ve made the 32 mile drive to visit the doctor and nurses here,” said Michele Beehler, SEL human resources manager. “We are happy to now offer our LC Valley employees the convenience of an on-site clinic too.”
The clinic will provide employees and their families with comprehensive care and assessment, without the copay. Services will include physical examinations, vaccinations, weight management, health screenings and lab services.
While many of the details are still being determined, the clinic will most likely be staffed by a provider a couple of days per week, with a fulltime registered nurse, who will be cross trained as a wellness coordinator. As the Lewiston employee base grows, so will the clinic and its offerings, said Beehler.
“The nice thing about the SEL Health Clinic is that they offer same-day appointments, you don’t have to leave campus or be away from work long, and there’s no copay,” said Karen Hess, a business coordinator in SEL Information Services. “My son works here too, and it’s been great for him to be able to bring my grandson in for free immunizations and checkups.”
SEL included space for the 1,225 square-foot clinic when they built the Lewiston facility in 2012. The plan was to open the clinic when the number of employees, and their family members, reached the point where they could sustain an on-site clinic. SEL Lewiston currently has just over 275 employees.
