The LINAM FLT and LINAM FLR system improves the overall reliability of your distribution system through accurate fault indication and load monitoring. The system enables you to locate faults faster and make informed switching decisions. Restoring power quickly is essential to ensuring satisfied customers and better CAIDI reliability metrics. Locating momentary faults allows you to address system issues and improve MAIFI metrics. Highly accurate (1% typical) load data also enables phase balancing and system planning. The FLT Fault and Load Transmitter and the FLR Fault and Load Receiver work in combination using unlicensed 900 MHz wireless communications. Line powering, with as little as 3.5 A continuous current, reduces ongoing maintenance and allows you to use the FLT throughout your distribution system. FLR receivers are easy to integrate into existing systems with DNP3/IP output and comprehensive security. In addition, deploying the FLT and FLR system in pole-mount applications is quick and easy with the fully integrated enclosure option.

Improve Fault Location Throughout the Distribution System

Adding the FLT and FLR system provides more detail for momentary and permanent fault location on feeders, taps, and laterals to provide a more granular and extended view of the distribution system. With centralized fault information from the FLT and FLR system, utility operations teams can dispatch crews to more precise locations, speeding up restoration. Bright LEDs on the FLT provide local identification for line crews confirming the fault indication reported through the SCADA system or outage management system (OMS).

Use Load Data to Improve Operations

Highly accurate (1% typical) and timely load data (as fast as 5-minute intervals) from FLT transmitters on feeders, taps, and laterals enables better decision-making in emergency switching situations. Load data is also essential for phase balancing, system planning, and identifying potential power theft.

Speed Up Deployment in Pole-Mount Applications

The fully integrated FLR enclosure with built-in mounting bracket makes it quick and easy to deploy the system in pole-mount applications. It contains an FLR, an uninterruptible power supply, and other related equipment to provide connectivity with FLT transmitters and comes prewired with connections for power, communications, and antenna circuits. The front-facing Ethernet jack panel in the enclosure provides ease of access for setup. An SEL-3061 Cellular Router can be pre-installed to provide secure communications over public cellular networks to SCADA, or you can self-install your own backhaul radio. The enclosure also includes DIN-rail space for mounting additional hardware, such as the SEL-3505-3 Real-Time Automation Controller (RTAC) for local automation schemes.

Accurately Indicate Faults and Monitor Load
When a fault occurs, the FLT wirelessly transmits a fault or outage status to an FLR. The FLR receives the fault and load status from several FLT transmitters located within the receiver's line of sight. It then passes the sensor data through a wired or wireless network to the central SCADA master via the DNP3 protocol. Improve Reliability Metrics and Planning
