When the SEL-3530 RTAC uses SEL Protocol to poll an SEL device, it must have knowledge of the ACC (and sometimes 2AC) level password of the “child” relay to perform event retrieval, fast breaker, and other command operations. If the SEL-3620 performs a password update on the SEL device, the SEL-3620 must update the RTAC internal database with the child’s new ACC and 2AC passwords or risk the RTAC losing operational visibility on the child relay. This application guide describes the steps to perform password management using the SEL-3620 with an RTAC set up for SEL Server Engineering Access as the intermediary device.
