LINAM CTs are designed for applications where it is difficult or uneconomical to open the primary conductor to install a solid-core-type current transformer. The split-core design uses M6 silicon steel formed into a hexagonal or rectangular shape. This allows the core to be flexible enough to install over cable. CTs can be installed over bushings or over cables and are held in place with cable ties.
The CT is encapsulated in a flexible vinyl plastic with 600 V insulation level. The secondary terminals and hardware are nickel-plated brass. A single stainless-steel bolt secures the nickel mating surface of the split-core.
In-Service Installation—Use CTs for electrical load surveys, industrial energy management systems, submetering for department costing, and in conjunction with demand, kilowatt-hour, or power factor meters; current or watt transducers; or current-sensing relays. The split-core design eliminates the need to open the primary cable during installation over existing bushings or cable for a lower installation cost and time compared to closed-core designs. Install CTs when secondary load is present. Flexible encapsulation provides 600 V class insulation and ensures a long product life. Four window diameters are available: 3.5", 4.5", 6.0", and 8.0".
