Overhead Electrostatic Reset Fault Indicator

Apply the SEL-ER at overhead conductors from 10.35 kVL-L to 69 kVL-L system voltage. SEL-ER is powered by line voltage. It detects and displays permanent faulted line conditions by showing a large reflective red target. The red target remains visible after a permanent fault to allow line workers to locate the fault during the outage. The SEL-ER automatically resets after restoration of line voltage, making them ready to detect faults without line worker intervention.

The SEL-ER is easy and quick to install on energized lines using a single hot stick. The hermetically sealed UV-stabilized housing and stainless-steel clamp make it tough enough to handle harsh outdoor environments.

Select the BEACON LED display option for increased visibility in low-light conditions. The combination BEACON LED and target display provides optimal night and day indications. The intelligent energy-saving LED display conserves battery life by activating the LED only in reduced ambient light conditions. The mechanical target and sensor remain operational regardless of the amount of charge on the replaceable battery.

Energy-Harvesting, Automatic Reset—Apply the SEL-ER at strategic intervals along overhead conductors and at midfeeder disconnects to minimize fault-finding times and optimize reliability statistics. The inrush restraint feature prevents false tripping during recloser operations. After indicating a fault, the SEL-ER automatically resets its display upon restoration of system voltage.

Easy-to-Spot Display Options—Find faults faster with a large red reflective target display that is easily seen during the day and reflective against light during the night. For low-light conditions, a dual-display option offers a red reflective target display and a super-bright red LED display for optimal night and day indication.

Low Load Current—Install the SEL-ER where there is insufficient load current to power a current reset fault indicator. These sensors use voltage for power and reset.
