New to FLISR—Automatic Configuration Using GIS Data
SEL recently introduced several enhancements to the Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR) application package on the SEL Blueframe platform.
Users can now automatically configure FLISR systems using geographic information system (GIS) data.
This update represents the next evolution in simplicity for FLISR. One major benefit is that GIS integration makes it easier to scale to and regularly update large systems with hundreds to thousands of feeders.
As part of this release, SEL is introducing two new apps to Blueframe: Model Data Import (MDI) and Power System Model (PSM). Users will import GIS data with the MDI app and configure their model with the PSM app.
SEL has incorporated feedback from FLISR users to provide an enhanced graphical configuration interface with PSM. This app keeps configuration simple and minimizes the potential for introducing errors while configuring the model for a FLISR system.
In addition to supporting FLISR, the MDI and PSM apps will enable other Distribution Management System (DMS) applications and advanced solutions in the future.
FLISR on SEL Blueframe is a software solution that enables power systems to rapidly detect permanent faults and restore service to unaffected portions of feeders—which helps reduce customer outages and improve reliability metrics. With features such as GIS integration, FLISR on SEL Blueframe is redefining simplicity in distribution automation.
