RTAC Firmware R153—New Features and Enhancements

SEL has released a new firmware version (R153-V0) for SEL Real-Time Automation Controllers (RTACs). Key additions and enhancements include the following.

Axion Bay Controller Alarm Screens

This release introduces new alarm functionality for the Axion Bay Controller touchscreen display. Users can create as many as 25 alarm panels and customize aspects such as tile color and size, alarm messages, and flash operation. The intuitive Axion Bay Controller touchscreen allows users to monitor and manage substation alarms onsite. An alarm summary screen provides a comprehensive overview of unacknowledged or active alarms.

Tag Selector Tool

This release includes a new Tag Selector tool in acSELerator RTAC SEL-5033 Software that allows users to drag and drop one or more project tags into tag-entry-supported fields, such as on the Simple Tag Mapper and Tag Processor.

Simple Tag Mapper Enhancements

The Simple Tag Mapper is an RTAC library extension feature used to automatically create the link between a collection of tags from client devices in the field to a list of tags (in the server data map) assigned to a server device, generally for SCADA or HMI display purposes. It is ideal for large applications with many devices and helps reduce the time and effort required for mapping data.

In addition to the new Tag Selector tool, this release includes the following enhancements to the Simple Tag Mapper:

  • Additional configuration columns to allow modification of DNP indexes, objects, and variations—making the tag mapper fields a single entry point for modifying the DNP configuration.
  • Ability to import a tag map configuration from an externally configured CSV file.
  • Live data/logging-only modes to automate the configuration of large groups of tags for these features.

Network Event Capture

Network Event Capture is a built-in RTAC functionality that captures Ethernet packets for troubleshooting network issues and logging network activity. Users can now automate this functionality using triggers and defined recording durations. In addition to ensuring that information is collected regardless of staffing or the time of day, this enhancement reduces analysis time by focusing data collection on relevant timeframes.
