This is a two-day course.

The SYS 406 course is designed to be highly interactive and activity-based. During SYS 406, in groups of two, you will configure a realistic data collection scheme using the acSELerator Team SEL-5045 Software. Each unit of this course will guide you through exercises, step by step, to define, acquire, display, analyze, control, and integrate simulated system data.


This course is intended for engineers, technical consultants, and technicians.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, students can:

  • Identify the Team services and features.
  • Create a connection directory with several folders and devices.
  • Communicate with a device, collect and organize events, and view them in a timeline.
  • Communicate with an SEL-3530 RTAC to collect Sequence of Events (SOE) data.
  • Communicate with a metering device and collect load profile (LDP) data, using Team LDP Excel templates.
  • Communicate with a device for transmission fault location.
  • Configure and integrate Team Sync across a wide-area network.
  • Troubleshoot Team.

Student Background and Knowledge

Before you attend this class, we recommend that you have the following:

  • Experience with SEL relays.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the RTAC configuration.
  • An understanding of power system automation theory and application.
