BEACON Electrostatic Reset

BER Fault Indicators are powered by line voltage and provide two distinctive displays. The BER has a red reflective target display (largest display surface in the industry) and a super bright red LED. A high-capacity, long-life, replaceable lithium battery operates the LED display. A nonreplaceable battery is also an available option. To maximize battery life, the target display uses no battery energy.

Using smart Daylight Restraint technology, the BER automatically conserves battery life by flashing the LED only during periods of low ambient light. The BER will reset the target and clear a flashing LED upon restoration of system voltage.

Apply BERs to overhead conductors from 10.35 to 69 kVL-L system voltage. Nominal trip ratings are factory-set to your specification. BERs are quick and easy to install using a single hot stick.

Combination Display Provides Optimal Indication—Apply this dual-display faulted circuit indicator for excellent visual indication, even in low-light conditions. The combination BEACON LED and target display provides optimal night and day indications. The Daylight Restraint feature conserves battery life by activating the LED only in reduced ambient light conditions. Use at strategic intervals along overhead conductors and at midfeeder disconnects to minimize fault-finding time and optimize reliability statistics. The inrush restraint feature prevents false tripping during recloser operations, and the unit automatically resets upon restoration of system voltage. The mechanical target and sensor remain operational regardless of the amount of charge on the battery.

Low Load Current—Install a BER BEACON Electrostatic Reset where there is insufficient load current to power a current reset fault indicator. These sensors use voltage for power and reset.

Replaceable Battery—Replace the industry-standard battery by hand. No tools required.
