Network Security Device—Make the SEL-3560 Real-Time Automation Controller (RTAC) the secure access point into your substation or plant. New RTAC Libraries

  • Fault Location: Calculate the impedance-based fault location for Axion SEL-2245-42 COMTRADE files to accurately locate the distance to faults on electric lines and extend the functionality of your digital fault recorder with the FaultLocation Library.
  • Condition Monitoring: Configure the ConditionMonitoring library to assess CT/PT health and extract specialized asset health reports from connected IEDs. This library is used for condition-based monitoring of power system assets that can assist in NERC PRC-005 compliance.
  • Grid Connect: The new release of the Grid Connect inverter-based control solution allows for a 5 MW system limit at an economic price point that includes support for loads behind meters, solar smoothing, peak shaving, time-shifted generation, and automatic charging of storage assets. 
  • Combine the EmailPlus library with the Report Generator library to generate professionally formatted reports that incorporate real-time tag data, and email those reports by integrating with secure mail systems. The EmailPlus library enables the RTAC to use mail servers that require a username and password.
  • Configure the FTPSync library to specify content to be monitored and synced automatically with a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server. This library monitors specified folders and IEDs to detect when files are added or modified and sends those files to the FTP server.

Firmware R146

  • Employ the RTAC to provide a powerful gateway between the substation and the factory using EtherNet/IP. This popular industrial protocol facilitates reliable communication between electronic devices in industrial automation systems. Use the RTAC’s EtherNet/IP adapter to exchange critical data for real-time monitoring, process control, and power system integration.
  • Expand your system integration by using the web APIs to obtain information about network audits, hardware ID properties, logic engine assets, networking, ports, acSELerator RTAC SEL-5033 Software projects, the status of projects, and users.

Firmware R145

  • Configure up to 100 IEEE C37.118 clients. Each client can be configured with up to 100 phasor measurement unit (PMU) data sets. Data sets can be passed directly to the IEEE C37.118 server without the need to configure logic on the RTAC. The data rates can be configured for up to 240 messages per second, and archiving is available with the Dynamic Disturbance Recording (DDR) extension.
  • Enable the SEL server to read files via ASCII, and use the SEL server to manage passwords for local accounts.

  • Securely access your RTACs and SEL IEDs using RADIUS centralized authentication with multi-factor authentication support.
  • Integrate legacy RTUs using the CDC Type II client.

  • Validate that critical commands were sent from trusted sources using DNP3 Secure Authentication Version 5.
  • Automatically detect and configure connected Axion modules in acSELerator RTAC SEL-5033 Software.
  • Develop and test custom RTAC libraries using the new acSELerator RTAC Developer Mode, which allows users to write and compile user logic into a library that can be deployed to other RTACs.

Note: Beginning with the RTAC R144-V2 firmware released on February 18, 2019, the BIOS upgrade is included and managed with the firmware. If you own an SEL-3560 with firmware older than R144-V2, you can upgrade the BIOS by downloading the “SEL-3360 BIOS Update” package on the SEL-3360 webpage. Installation instructions for the SEL-3560 are available in the README.txt file included in the download.
