Dr. Liuxi (Calvin) Zhang is a Principal Project Manager with the Emerging Technology group for Smart Grid and Innovation at Commonwealth Edison (ComEd). His team evaluates emerging technologies and business models for ComEd’s smart grid initiatives and provides technical leadership and management for ComEd’s smart grid projects. Before joining ComEd, he was the team lead for distribution systems analytics at Nexant, Inc., where he led the research, software development, and product management for transmission and distribution analytic applications.

Dr. Zhang is an IEEE Senior Member. He obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and his M.S. and B.S. degrees from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China. He is the recipient of the Boston Chapter 2013 IEEE PES Outstanding Young Engineer Award and the 2012 IEEE Student Achievement Award.
