SEL Begins Work on New Electronic Device Manufacturing Facility in Moscow, Idaho

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) has begun site preparation for a new 250,000-square-foot electronic device manufacturing facility to be built south of the SEL printed circuit board (PCB) factory on its Schwartz Campus in Moscow, Idaho. The facility represents a $50 million investment in the region and will significantly expand the manufacturing capabilities of the company.Local contractor Motley-Motley has been selected to perform early site preparation, which is now underway. SEL is working on the building design with Bernardo Wills Architects of Spokane. The company expects to begin construction of the new facility early this summer and estimates it will complete the project in late 2027.The facility will expand electronic device manufacturing capacity at SEL, helping the company keep pace with global demand for products and solutions that protect, monitor and control critical infrastructure, including electric power systems around the world. SEL currently operates electronic device factories in Pullman, Wash.; Lewiston, Idaho; West Lafayette, Ind.; and Lake Zurich, Ill.“We are proud to continue investing in Idaho and expanding opportunities for people who want to build meaningful manufacturing careers,” said SEL President Dave Whitehead. “This facility will support our long-term growth, strengthen our regional economy and help us better serve our customers for decades to come.”Hiring for the factory will be completed in phases as manufacturing lines come online, beginning in summer 2027. Once the facility is fully operational, it will employ approximately 1,000 people.
