New Ethernet Switch Expands on Predecessor Capabilities
SEL has expanded its networking portfolio with the new SEL-2731 Ethernet Switch.
This 19-inch, 1U rack-mount switch is equal to the SEL-2730M Managed 24-Port Ethernet Switch in form, fit, and function, but it provides several key advantages for utility and industrial applications.
The switch offers 24 Ethernet ports, which can be configured to use small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers from SEL or third-party vendors. Eight ports support Gigabit speeds for high-traffic applications. The SEL-2731 is also carefully designed to converge the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) safely, providing a stable and predictable network. Redundant power supply options provide failover protection for critical applications.
Cybersecurity features, such as security logging, user-based authentication options and the ability to disable unused Ethernet ports, also improve network reliability. The SEL-2731 supports the Precision Time Protocol (PTP) Power Profile and can function as a transparent clock.
The SEL-2731 meets the SEL standard for quality and reliability, and it is backed by an industry-leading ten-year warranty. The switch also meets or exceeds IEEE 1613 Class 1, IEC 61850-3 and IEC 60255 standards for protection applications.
