Introducing the LINAM UGFI Underground Fault Indicator
SEL recently announced the release of the LINAM UGFI Underground Fault Indicator, a product of the E.O. Schweitzer Manufacturing facility in Lake Zurich, Illinois. The device offers several key features that help distribution system operators reduce the duration of outages by streamlining underground fault locating.
The LINAM UGFI is rugged, submersible and battery-free, so it can be deployed with confidence in harsh environments, such as underground vaults. Industry-leading adjacent-phase immunity technology actively rejects magnetic interference from nearby cables. With a universal clamp that allows installation with a single hot stick and the option to use the self-adjusting AutoRANGER algorithm or a wide range of fixed trip threshold options, the LINAM UGFI can be applied in underground and pad-mounted applications throughout the distribution system.
With a high-visibility display, several remote display options and an optional output contact that can send the fault status through an RTU to SCADA, it can be deployed for practically any underground fault-indicating application. The device also meets and exceeds IEEE 495 testing standards.
LINAM-branded fault indicators are manufactured using the same processes and standards as SEL protective relays and come with the company’s 10-year warranty and lifetime technical support. The LINAM UGFI is the latest addition to the family of LINAM fault indicator and sensor products.
