Independent Bus Check Zone Supervises Up to Six Differential Zones
Configure a check zone on complex bus layouts, encompassing all station terminals (except bus coupler and sectionalizing breakers), independently of disconnect auxiliary contact status.
Innovative Open CT Detection Improves Protection Security
Use the SEL patented open CT detection logic to supervise current differential bus zones, assuring bus zones will not misoperate due to terminals that can’t be properly measured. The logic monitors the CT terminals in every bus zone to detect when a contributing CT has failed. This advanced logic is so fast it will block differential element misoperations that occur under open or shorted CT conditions.
Longer Relay Events for Extended Fault or Switching Conditions
In addition to the existing 15- and 30-cycle event reports, analyze extended fault or switching conditions—and even use the SEL-487B as a station-wide digital fault recorder—with 60- or 120-cycle event reports.
Enhanced Front-Panel HMI
SEL made firmware and hardware enhancements to the SEL-487B front-panel HMI.
Firmware enhancements now include monitoring and control capabilities from the front-panel display.
