SEL Perspectives: Evaluating Risks in Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity solutions fall into three categories: solutions that increase complexity, decrease complexity, and increase observability. As we add technology to gain functionality, are we increasing the complexity? If we try to simplify a system, are there unintended consequences? We believe that understanding first principles will allow us to achieve an empirical basis for evaluating risk in cybersecurity.
